+ Saturday greeting – about Mass this weekend – and a laugh

Happy Saturday everyone

Well, it’s a beautiful autumn morning and looking at it, it’s hard to believe there’s so much challenge going on here and across the world. But lots of thanksgiving for whatever you’ve been able to do this week to connect with others and share encouragement. Maybe I could roster out my cat (a cheeky Russian Blue named Alexander Pushkin!) if anyone needs a visitor? Hmmm maybe not – might make someone sneeze which is not a good look at the moment!

Mass and spiritual nourishment for this weekend5th Sunday of Lent

By late today – Saturday afternoon – there’ll be my homily as a voice recording here on this  site – and also a voice recording of the Prayers of this weekend’s Mass. With so much available on the internet it can feel overwhelming! We need to all remind ourselves that it’s our CHOICE of what to use. In the days of walking into libraries with thousands of books, we would also have felt overwhelmed if we thought we were supposed to read the lot!!! Anyway, I’m purposely trying to not make this Parish Blog space look or feel overwhelming. So for Mass this weekend I’m sticking to some basic voice recordings and brief written words and greetings to go with them. I hope it can feel for you a bit like going to Mass.  I’ll also put a couple of easy links to click on if you want to visually join Bishop Vincent for a live Sunday Mass or other options.

Feedback about this Parish Blog space

Big thanks for those who’ve been able to assist someone who is not so accustomed to using the internet to be able to get into this Parish Blog space. I’ve heard a few great stories of that and encourage us to keep following people up to check they’re managing it – and of course to keep checking that we’re each managing generally in this very unusual time.

Phone Tree – to keep people connected

We started the phone tree last weekend too to especially include those who may not have internet access to keep connected and up to date with the parish reflections here. Let’s keep that going BUT ALSO let’s grow that tree! Please be in touch with the parish office via [email protected] or a message on 4735 1041 if there’s someone you know in the community who could do with a regular phone buddy. Of course we have to be sensitive when it comes to sharing people’s info and numbers so here are a couple of tips about that:

If you leave us YOUR details we can contact you – Then when we ask you who you’re thinking about we can check if we have their contact details on the parish listing etc. Otherwise you can certainly leave the person’s name and contact details if you’ve checked with them that it’s fine to pass those details on.

IF  YOU have already started being a phone buddy for someone who is not as connected – and that detail is not already on the parish phone tree list, you might be good enough to let us know that, at the parish office via [email protected] or a message on 4735 1041. I only say that in order to help us all keep actively checking if anyone is being missed out.

See you back here on this site from late this afternoon for Mass details as mentioned above – and just a few silly laughs to finish here for now:

 With friendship in God’s mission

fr Paul
