+ Monday 30th – Groceries and Midday Posts

Hello everyone and wishing you a peace-filled and purposeful week in this very challenging and unusual time

The local street sign as the theme picture on this post ..

..is simply intended symbolically to say that whilst we’re not physically together, we ask God’s blessings on each member of our local community – in every local street – and well beyond, right across the world’s streets – AND we ask God’s blessings on the many ways each of us are keeping others connected and cared about.

From now on – Messages by MIDDAY

The first new message of the week is to say, that, as we become accustomed to using this Parish Blog space as a key parish channel, it might be helpful if we can make the posting time a bit predictable. So, I’ll try to make the following the norm:

Whenever something is to be posted on a particular day in the Parish Blog, it will appear by MIDDAY. Hope that helps. And hope I stick to I !

Mass on the weekend just past

As some spiritual nourishment, you may not have seen the structure of the Emu Plains Mass that was posted on the weekend. See the post from 28 March entitled + Weekend Mass at Emu plains – 5th Sunday of Lent – There was a one hour period on Sunday morning when it wasn’t possible to access our parish website – This was an external problem that affected a whole lot of websites that have their ‘engines’ managed in the same place. Thankfully someone from Bishop Vincent’s team at Parramatta was able to trouble-shoot and get us back online.

LATEST Government regulations and advice – There might be more people in the local community feeling A BIT STRANDED

GROCERY HELP

Latest age-related advice has tightened up significantly about who should or shouldn’t leave home. There may quickly this week be people in our community feeling more stranded if they don’t have family or support friends to assist with shopping for groceries and essentials.

  • If any parishioner would like to offer him/herself to be a shopper helper for someone, kindly send your details to our parish secretary Christine (who is in the parish office this week on Tues / Wed / Fri) via [email protected]
  • If you have spoken personally to someone who has no-one to help with their shopping and who wants to be on a list with Our Lady of the Way parish, please also leave their details via [email protected]
  • As you’d understand there are health, legal and safety issues around trying to offer such help but we will do our best to respond as a parish, according to the needs that are identified.
  • There is no compulsion to offer your help in this way through the parish. This is simply trying to contribute towards any gaps there may be. The parish is one of many channels of current support and this message really respects the fact that many people  are already assisting someone in other ways – and that other groups and services are also doing likewise. Together, in many ways, and across beliefs and backgrounds, we show the face of God.

P.S. just for fun ….

Not recommending this approach to shopping. You need oxygen!

See you in the next post.

And with friendship in God’s mission,

fr Paul
