+ Thurs 16th July – Who makes up a typical parish?

Dear friends – Many people will remember times when being part of a parish community was much more widespread. The reasons why that is not the case in this era are quite varied. There is much for us to learn and reflect upon in order to increase our understanding of trends and to assist good and helpful responses. And this this something I’m keen to explore with our parish.

As one step in this theme, I thought I’d feature an important response in our diocese of Parramatta, known as The FaithFeed. The 20s to 40s demographic is very minimally represented in the typical cross section of ages in many parishes. And this is very strongly the case in Emu Plains. We can’t turn back the clock and we can’t presume people will or should just somehow switch on to keenly being part of parish participation. Something that has become a widespread generational phenomena needs positive, reflective, enthusiastic people to get on board with building networks of connection .. step-on points that people can identify with .. means for people to ‘put their toe in the water’ and be accompanied .. ways to build and share meaningful witness.

Is there some initial, positive response that could assist this? FIRST .. a few questions:

THREE QUICK QUESTIONS FOR CHURCH MEMBERS WHO KNOW PEOPLE AGED AROUND 20’s to 40’s

  1. Do you have a family member or friend aged around 20’s to 40 who is open to God but doesn’t connect much with the Church – or one who is connected and likes being further motivated?
  2. Would you like to see more people who are 20’s to 40 have a point of connection to a faith network?
  3. Will you personally share an invitation with someone 20’s to 40 to an online event – and either join him/her for the online event – or – follow up to see what they thought?

IF YOU ANSWERED YES YES and YES – see thefaithfeedparramatta.com.au for an enjoyable, motivating online opportunity coming up  Friday 31st July 7pm – registration is open now. As well, there are some special small card invitations to The FaithFeed available in the church that you can write someone’s name on and personally give to them.

SO WHAT IS ‘THE FAITHFEED’ ?

‘The FaithFeed’ is a Catholic initiative of Parramatta Diocese’s Institute for Mission (IFM). It is a network for those around mid 20s to 40s who have an openness to conversation about life & faith. Its primary means of networking is via social media, with specific FaithFeed handles and online spaces. It also includes periodic audience events with food, drinks, live music and motivating talks connected to life and faith. This time, on 31st July, it’s online. So, welcome – and enjoy inviting someone as a simple, do-able means of sharing your faith. – Check it out

WILL YOU CONSIDER SHARING YOUR FAITH IN THIS SIMPLE, DO-ABLE WAY?

WILL YOU CONSIDER PICKING UP AN INVITATION CARD, WRITING SOMEONE’S NAME ON IT WHO IS IN THEIR 20’S OR 30’S AND PERSONALLY INVITING THEM TO THIS ONLINE EVENT?
