+ Monday 27th – Some heartwarming things, prayer suggestion and something amusing

The cover image on today’s post comes from the liturgy that was posted on Saturday for Anzac Day. I hope you were able to feel connected to Anzac Day in some way. I was talking on Saturday to parishioners Brad Snedden and his son Connor as they and Kevin in their grounds group were caring for the parish property. And they spoke of a really moving street ceremony their family had organised for 6am Saturday – including a mic set up for speeches, candles, musical acknowledgement etc. What a great example of humanity bonded in meaning – and a great example of a common ground of spirituality being found across backgrounds and faiths.

ALSO ..

.. some moving  stuff of humanity’s bonding is seen in the short video piece below. It’s a simple four minute collection of some things in the current health crisis that an obviously good and kind medical worker in North America put together. I thought it might help to influence some of your prayer – and mine – today.

Prayer suggestion

  • Find a quiet few moments today
  • Light a candle and/or go to a particular spot where you can focus
  • Sign of the cross
  • Breathe deeply in and out a number of times and simply allow yourself to be aware that God is deeply aware of you, right now
  • watch the simple video for the few minutes of its good stuff of humanity (then go to the next steps of the prayer suggestion under the video)

PRESS THE TRANGLE PLAY BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE

(Prayer suggestion continued after video)

  • Then give thanks for ten things you can think of  – (it sounds a lot – but here’s a bet you’ll get to ten)
  • The Lord’s prayer
  • The Hail  Mary
  • The Glory be ..
  • Finally, let God smile on you – especially for a small new idea you’re thinking of right now – for how you will bless the world this week
  • Sign of the cross

Something amusing at OLOW

As you might know, there is now an addition to our Parish Blog space – so that in case anyone wants to make a comment after a post, a Comments section has been built in below. We received one comment that was obviously not written using our familiar alphabet. Here’s a screen shot of the message …. after I copied  it into the Google translator service to work out what it was saying … I guessed it was Greek  by the look of a few letters so tried that in Google for starters … (continued below the picture)

So, then I got the translation back – here it is …

… someone trying to trick us that we’d won Lotto and looking for our details to guide us to the  winnings!

Seems amidst the heartwarming possibilities for  humanity’s goodness  in the COVID period – it’s also giving a few scammers a platform. Anyway, thought I’d  share the giggle today that a Greek Lotto win has – not – come our way!

See you in the next post and ..

with friendship in God’s mission,

fr Paul

PS – yesterday’s live stream Mass is still available on Facebook – here’s a direct link back into that Facebook video https://www.facebook.com/olowparishemuplains/videos/2316551175113959/

OR if you can check out the Sunday post here in the Parish Blog space – I think I’ve found a way for non Facebook users to view a Facebook video afterwards.
