Welcome to Mass on 6th September for the 23rd Sunday of Ordinary Time. And HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY to all who are celebrating or specially remembering today. In this blog post you can also read the words of the special blessing being used for Fathers’ Day in this weekend’s parish Masses at Emu Plains. Feel welcome to copy it and use it however you wish. FATHERS’ DAY PRAYER – BLESSING

Loving God, you are the source of each of our lives and you have created the gift of fatherhood as such a profound and influential calling. We give you thanks for every expression of fathering that has nurtured any of us – strengthened any of us – given hope and safety to any of us – encouraged any of us in the dreams of our lives, talents or various vocations.

Especially today, God our Father and Creator, we ask you to be close to any father who is feeling lonely or sad … and to be close to anyone among us who is sad to be missing their dad or for whom this day is difficult.

Receive our thanks and praise dear God for all fatherly gifts. Bless the dads here among us today – as well as the dads we wish we could be with. Give joy through our words to the dads who we will speak to with gratitude today – and hold with affection the dads who have now gone from this life. May their prayers from a life of joy with you embrace us with sure belonging, for now – and forever. AMEN

You might want to slide the timer at the bottom of the picture along just a little to the starting point of Mass, rather than wait

>> Once the Mass is loaded and visible here it can take some time for Facebook and the Parish Blog engine to speak properly to each other – so realise that it’s not you and give it a little time

>> Playing the Facebook Live Stream from here in the Parish Blog can be a bit glitchy to get started – If so, persevere and try it slowly a few times – it should  be fine
